Chileda employee at the UW-La Crosse Job Fair

Congratulations to Chileda employee, McKenna Keach, on your acceptance to the Master’s of Occupational Therapy program at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

“While I was applying for graduate schools, it became clear to me there were many ways I have helped the children at Chileda grow, but even more ways in which they helped me grow as a future Occupational Therapist. Assisting students to overcome barriers in their lives, so they are able to participate in the activities they enjoy, has sparked an unwavering aspiration within me to help others in need through OT. I am very excited that I get to stay in La Crosse for graduate school, and continue to work with the awesome kiddos at Chileda who helped affirm this career path for me!” ~McKenna Keach

McKenna, all of us here at Chileda are proud of everything you have done for us and accomplished in your academic studies!

Chileda participated in the Nutbush City Limits volleyball league this fall. Though staff often had to brave the cold sand with warm socks on, they had a great time and did their best to set the competition. It was a great teambuilding experience and a chance to use all their wonderful Recreational skills outside of Chileda.

Chileda Softball Teams

This summer, Chileda sponsored two inaugural softball teams, a co-ed team and a men’s team. These teams are comprised of 1st and 2nd shift staff, Direct Support Professionals, Leads, Case Mangers, Rec Staff and more. It has been an amazing opportunity for the team members to get to know each other better and to role model for the community some of the values that Chileda expounds: teamwork, fair play and respect. Each team has improved throughout the season with victories coming more frequently every week. While each team’s aim is to make a deep playoff run, the goal has always been to participate in the longest Chileda team builder in recent memory. And while none of the players will get “credit hours” for the training, the experiences and memories we all have are the best reward. Look for signups next Spring if you want to be a part of this wonderful experience.
