At Chileda, we seek to offer a spectrum of approaches to meet the diverse needs of our students through providing comprehensive training and on-going support to our staff. Staff are encouraged to gather information on new and emerging strategies from reputable sources and incorporate evidenced based practices into daily routines and practices. Our desire is to be a leader in serving students with autism spectrum or attachment issues through seeking out new strategies without abandoning well-established practices.

Determination to build the skills of our own staff has enabled us to establish a wide range of in-house workshops that are relevant to people throughout our community. Although some of our in-house workshops may be of specific interest to Chileda staff, we have several workshops that any interested person is able to attend.

Building a broad based set of skills for our staff has also meant seeking the expertise of prominent professionals within relevant fields of study. While we encourage our staff to attend seminars, symposiums and other forums that offer advanced education, we have also been able to bring experts directly to our staff and community through hosting local conferences.

The Midwest Autism Conference, held every fall, and the Autism Certificate program, held every summer, are collaborative efforts between Chileda and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse which provide opportunities for learning throughout our community.

Chileda University has been created to provide general as well as customized workshops to schools and service providers. Professional staff can travel to your site and provide education on topics including:

  • Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Introduction to Attachment Disorders
  • Supporting Individual Rights and Self Advocacy
